Whilst most teams have soaked their socks and washed their shorts for the last time a number of weeks ago at the conclusion of the 2009 Season, Figtree U/10 1's have continued to train twice a week in preparation for and to compete in the Football NSW Champions of Champions tournament. The boys have continued their fantastic form they displayed throughout the regular IJFA Competition which saw them become undefeated League and Grand Final Champions. The boys have shown terrific determination, commitment and football ability in the first 3 rounds of the tournament to progress to the semi - finals to be played on the 18th October 2009 - a fantastic achievement.

After their latest victory last Sunday 27th Sept 2009 against Kincumber FC, the boys were asked to represent the IJFA and FJSC as the sponsorship and Australian flag bearers at the People Care District League Division 1 Grand Final at Macedonia Park, Berkeley. The boys were given a great reception by the crowd and have also been asked to once again represent the IJFA and FJSC to carry the Australian flag on Sunday 11th October 2009 at the Illawarra Premier League Grand Final to be held at Crehan Park, Cringila kick-off at 3pm. The boys had a great afternoon and were each given a football as a momento of the occasion - it was hard to wipe the smiles off their faces after such a memorable day!

I am sure the boys will continue to be a credit to FJSC and play to the best of their abilty over the next few weeks as they strive to become Football NSW U/10 Champions of Champions winners - whatever happens the boys have represented IJFA, FJSC, their parents and themselves proudly, but most of all, have enjoyed the challenges and the experiences that football has provided them with this year !
